Babies:For the DCG Blog this month we are featuring babies. This was going to be a bit of a challenge in that I have teenagers, as do just about all my friends. We are in that stage where the kids are leaving for college, we have no grandchildren yet (sigh of relief), and on the horizon looms all our time and money for ourselves. I'd like to call this the "Bliss" stage for adults. My friend, Bonnie Bruns, was kind enough to enlist her 3 1/2 year old niece, Kenzie, to pose for my book and let me swath her in pink as a princess.
Postcards: Many of us buy postcards with the best intentions. We want to share our experience. But the task of finding a minute of solitude, a place to write, and stamps seems to dampen our good will to share the beauty and fun by mail. We typically bring them home.
I just can't let go: Several times, in the past, I have used postcards for projects. One was for Karen Burniston's Twist Cube Die and the other for a travel/adventure post for the DCG. But using postcards in craft projects hasn't caught on. Okay, I should have tried more than twice, sure. But I think it's brilliant and won't stop blogging about it until everyone in the country is using postcards for decorating the Rockefeller Christmas tree, there is a Postcard Retrospective at the Getty, and we have covered the entire state of New Jersey in Postcards!!
Kenzie's Album: I selected 10 postcards of palaces or castles I had visited in Europe-what better a setting for our 'princess'. Using my Zutter, I constructed a book with the postcards, additional pages cut from the Mademoiselle Stack by DCWV, and 15 photo pockets that make slipping photos in the album easier. I made the embellishments using Sizzix's Crown, Medallion, and Scroll die set by Karen Burniston. Ribbon is by Making Memories.
Kenzie: She's cute, adorable, and it's hard to take a bad picture of such a pretty tot! We pulled from Bonnie's extensive collection to find photos that really showcased her personality.
